PPLE’s Talent Development Programme (TDP) is here to help students thrive and grow beyond academia; personally, professionally, and culturally. TDP offers a serious board experience with binding responsibilities. To give you an idea of what the ’23 – ’24 TDP board will organize:
· 3 big events on each of the mentioned pillars: that means, one career event, one personal development event, and one cultural and/or integration event.
· 2 recurring events, of which we are sure that they will be well-attended (such as de Peper or Data visualization).
· Maintain 1 or 2 long-term cooperations, for example with Movies that Matter .
· Work together with and join existing events, such as the Amsterdam Career Days, Voluntinder and the Springboard Career Event.
· Continue to support our existing student initiatives – such as the Academic Journal, Periodic and Creature magazine – and support one new student initiative.
This year, we are asking you to send us your CV and a motivation letter (±350 words). Please email it to us after you have completed this form.
Please tell us:
Why do you want to be part of the team and do you find the position interesting?
What do you have to offer?
TDP is a foundation that aims to get things done. Hence, we advise you to focus this letter on your hands-on, result-oriented skills. Keep in mind that a motivation letter isn’t just for us to hear how motivated you are, we want to know what makes you a good fit for the position you are applying for - so include qualifications, relevant experience, hobbies and whatever else you think makes you suited for the job. A good motivation letter explains why you are a good candidate for a certain position.
The application procedure is two rounds: in round one, your application and motivation will be reviewed (on paper); in round two you will be invited for an interview. After all interviews are completed, you will be informed of our decision via the email you have provided in this form. (If you are interested in more than one position, please indicate your first choice and note any others in your motivation letter or interview.)
The descriptions for the various roles are lined out below – including core tasks, time investment and required skills. Please note that a couple of conditions apply for becoming a TDP board member:
The board member needs to be in the Netherlands during the entire board term;
This is the sole governance function you fulfill in PPLE; no double functions within the PPLE governance are allowed

Note that some weeks you will have to work more than the average amount of working hours (12 hours for everyone, 15 hours for the chair).
It is important that TDP is your primary commitment, and that your time isn’t dedicated to too many other positions or boards.

You will also oversee consistent account keeping, reimbursing/transferring funds, creating invoices, and discussing funding-related support with students who want to realize their initiative. You work in close contact with the co-heads of initiatives to manage significant amounts of money, predict the costs for future events and request invoices from our event partners. The TDP board bears legal, personal responsibility for the budget; the Treasurer is the first gatekeeper of this responsibility.

Your workload will be approximately 12 hours per week. The work of the secretary has a more levelled time investment in comparison to e.g. the co-heads of initiatives, since scheduling meetings, administrative work and the management of the website are a consistent effort and workflow.
The core tasks and responsibilities include:

Co-Heads should possess great communication skills and be self-starters that are proactive and can execute projects in the context of a broader team. They should be organized and make the TDP their primary commitment.
Your workload will be approximately 12 hours per week.
Core tasks and responsibilities:
- Planning and executing core initiatives
- Facilitating student initiatives
- Leading and fostering collaborations with other organizations
- Advertising events at lectures / to your fellow PPLE-students/friends
To illustrate this role a little more, below is an example of an initiative:
If you were to come up with a trip to the ICC/ICJ in The Hague – as that is linked to multiple PPLE courses and enriches the learning experience of students –, you would first talk to the TDP board for approval, pitching your idea. Then you would contact the relevant people (perhaps the AIM travel committee for a collaboration or transport services/venues for the trip itself). You would then organize the event with all the stakeholders in mind, keeping the board updated throughout the process. An x number of days before the event, you would need to have full details prepared so that the head of PR can begin marketing it – so people can sign up. Finally, you would be in charge of executing the trip (potentially together with other PPLE students and/or TDP board members).
